Babies? In MY blog? Not likely.
They're cute and cuddly but not exactly popping out of me or any of my single, drinking bachlerotte friends at the moment. However, a recent discovery has put me on the subject of babies, so bear with me.
A few months ago a co-worker found my character on the list of a baby name website:
http://www.babynamefacts.com/babynames/characters.php?name=Margaret
My first thought is, if anything, this not a good way to advertise the name "Margaret." Most parents would skip to Martha (especially if there's a pic right by the character). But then I wonder. During the trauma of post-natal depression does an angry young woman scream from her hospital bed: "Get that ugly, hairy thing away from me....call her Margaret." Maybe. There's enough screwed up parents out there.
I know what you're thinking, with a name like Thesy (pronounced "Jay-Z" with a "T" btw) Surface my parents couldn't have been far off from that, or, at least, a little ambiguous about me, but I wonder- if a child is born through weird circumstances e.g. the day after its father abandons the expectant mother, is a "hate name" produced? Especially if the poor embryo resembles the "slimy bastard."
Hmm.
Maybe we can all decipher our parents' love by what name they gave us. And, of course, who they named us after. (Folks, it's time to ask that hard question. See if they avoid eye contact.)
I just hope they named you after Margaret Scully. Cause she's hot. But then, you'd be pretty young.
